Common Threads
by Valli Schiller
Quilted by Nell Irwin, Valli & Jacqueline Schiller, and Gillian Wu
Category 4: Machine Quilted Bed Size, Pieced (QE06)
How is it possible that this quilt is not sporting a ribbon?

This was my favorite quilt at the show. Lucky for me, I overheard a friend of the quilter telling the quilt's story to a companion. The quilter, Valli, designed this quilt around some old fan quilt blocks that her grandmother Nell had made when Nell was young. Four generations of women in Valli's family helped with the quilting: Nell; Valli's mother, Jacqueline; Valli; and Valli's daughter, Gillian.

I love rickrack! The addition of rickrack and lace has a very charming effect.

The photo mounts are a nice touch.

Isn't Jackie adorable?
